The service life of EPE filter elements falls into three ranges classified by actual working conditions, and replacement is ultimately determined by reaching the rated differential pressure.

Under clean standard working conditions with oil cleanliness at NAS 7~8 and low ambient dust (typically precision machine tools and standard hydraulic stations), the continuous service life ranges from 2,000 to 3,000 operating hours, equivalent to 8–10 months under an eight-hour daily production schedule.

For general industrial applications such as injection molding machines and light construction machinery with minor abrasive contaminants in oil, the service life is approximately 1,500–2,200 hours, or around three months under round-the-clock continuous operation.

Harsh working environments are mainly found in mining and metallurgical equipment featuring heavy ambient dust, frequent water ingression leading to oil emulsification and excessive contamination, which shortens filter service life down to 800–1,400 hours.

Service hours alone shall not serve as the sole replacement criterion; filters must be replaced once differential pressure hits the preset threshold: 0.3~0.5 MPa for return-line filters and 1.5 MPa for pressure-line filters.

Over-specification of filtration precision, sludge formation from water-contaminated oil, or undersized rated flow will drastically shorten service lifespan, possibly causing premature scrappage within several hundred hours due to overrun differential pressure. By contrast, proper fluid maintenance including regular oil top-up and water removal can extend filter service life by roughly 30%.
