How to select a suitable HYDAC filter element?

Confirm the installation position

First clarify the installation position of the filter element in the hydraulic system. Different positions correspond to different types of HYDAC filter elements. Low-pressure coarse filter elements are used for the oil suction pipeline to protect the hydraulic pump. High-precision high-pressure filter elements are applied to the pump outlet and control oil circuits. Large dirt-holding capacity return filter elements are adopted for the system return pipeline, and high-precision off-line filter elements are used for bypass circulating purification, which cannot be mixed for use.

Select the proper filtration accuracy

Choose the filtration accuracy according to the precision of hydraulic components. Precision servo valves and proportional valves match 3 to 5 micron high-precision filter elements. Conventional plunger pumps and precision hydraulic valves adopt 5 to 10 micron elements. Ordinary gear pumps and vane pumps use 10 to 20 micron elements. Only 50 to 180 micron coarse filter elements are needed for pre-protection at the oil suction end. Avoid blindly pursuing ultra-high accuracy, as excessive accuracy will increase oil flow resistance, easily cause pump cavitation and frequent filter blockage.

Match the rated flow

Select the model according to the maximum instantaneous flow of the system. The rated flow of the filter element shall be 1.5 to 2 times higher than the system peak flow, and twice the flow is recommended for oil suction working conditions. It ensures smooth oil circulation, keeps the initial pressure difference within a reasonable range, and prevents excessive pressure difference from affecting the oil supply efficiency of the system.

Match the working pressure grade

Select the pressure resistance specification according to the actual working pressure of the pipeline. Conventional low-pressure filter elements are used for low-pressure working conditions, and high-strength high-pressure glass fiber filter elements are adopted for medium and high-pressure hydraulic pipelines. For equipment with pressure impact and heavy-load working conditions, reserve sufficient pressure resistance safety margin to prevent deformation and damage of the filter element.
