Structure, principles & specs of alternative HYDAC filters
1. Introduction
HYDAC filter elements are core components widely applied in hydraulic, lubrication and fluid purification systems across industrial machinery, metallurgy, wind power, mining and injection molding industries. With the continuous development of domestic fluid filtration technology, high-quality alternative HYDAC filter elements have achieved full dimensional interchangeability, equivalent performance and standardized production. These replacement products not only break the monopoly of imported original parts, but also optimize procurement costs and supply chain efficiency for end users. To help industrial practitioners, equipment maintenance personnel and purchasing engineers fully understand alternative HYDAC filter elements, this paper comprehensively elaborates their overall structure, internal working mechanism, complete technical parameters, mainstream material configuration, model coding rules and performance standards. All technical indicators of qualified alternative products are strictly designed and tested in accordance with international industrial standards, keeping consistent with genuine HYDAC filter elements in practical application, installation and service life.
2. Overall Structure of Alternative HYDAC Filter Elements
Most mainstream alternative HYDAC filter elements adopt a cylindrical folded structure, which is the classic design of original HYDAC products. The whole component is assembled by multiple functional parts, and each part undertakes independent tasks such as positioning, sealing, filtration, pressure resistance and protection. The dimensional tolerance, assembly clearance and interface size of alternative elements are controlled within the same range as original parts, realizing direct replacement without modifying filter housings or pipelines. The complete structure can be divided into six core parts: upper end cap, lower end cap, sealing ring, filter medium assembly, inner support frame and outer protective net. Some special models are also equipped with built-in bypass valves to ensure system safety under extreme working conditions.
2.1 Upper and Lower End Caps
The upper and lower end caps are located at both ends of the filter element, serving as the positioning and connecting base. High-strength cold-rolled steel plate or reinforced engineering plastic is selected as the raw material. For medium and high-pressure filter elements used in hydraulic systems, metal end caps are the mainstream choice due to excellent compression resistance and structural stability. The surface is treated with electrophoresis or spray coating to achieve rust prevention and corrosion resistance, adapting to humid and dusty industrial environments.
There are precise grooves and positioning steps on the end caps to match the filter housing. Meanwhile, the grooves for installing sealing rings are pre-reserved to ensure coaxiality during assembly. The end caps are tightly bonded with the filter medium and support frame by high-temperature resistant adhesive. The bonding strength has passed professional fatigue tests, so it will not fall off or crack under long-term fluid impact and vibration. For ultra-high pressure models, the thickness of end caps is increased appropriately to enhance overall structural rigidity.
2.2 Sealing Ring
The sealing ring is a key component to prevent fluid leakage between the filter element and the housing. Different rubber materials are configured according to operating temperature, fluid medium and working pressure. Common sealing materials include NBR (Nitrile Butadiene Rubber), FKM (Fluoroelastomer) and EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer). The sealing rings of alternative HYDAC filter elements adopt integral molding technology, with uniform hardness and good compression resilience. After long-term compression, they can still maintain stable sealing performance and avoid oil seepage caused by aging and deformation.
2.3 Filter Medium Assembly
As the core functional part of the filter element, the filter medium assembly determines filtration efficiency, dirt holding capacity and service life. The filter medium is folded into continuous corrugated shapes to expand the effective filtration area. Different from single-layer filter materials, most high-performance alternative elements adopt multi-layer gradient composite filter media. From the outer layer to the inner layer, the fiber density gradually increases, forming a stepped filtration structure. This structural design effectively avoids rapid blockage of fine filter layers by large particles and balances filtration precision and dirt holding capacity.
2.4 Inner Support Frame
The inner support frame is a spiral welded metal mesh cylinder, installed on the inner side of the folded filter medium. Its main function is to resist the pressure difference formed by fluid flow. When the fluid flows from outside to inside, the pressure acts on the filter medium. The rigid support frame can prevent the soft filter medium from being squeezed and deformed, torn or collapsed under medium and high pressure. The thickness of the support mesh and the aperture are designed according to the pressure grade. The higher the system pressure, the thicker the steel wire of the support frame, and the denser the mesh structure.
